The Workforce Career and Education Program provides essential career services to students in grades 6th through 12th in Hidalgo, Starr, and Willacy Counties. This program is specifically designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills essential for success in their future endeavors. We understand the significance of guiding young people towards making informed financial decisions that can help them avoid economic challenges in adulthood. According to the National Financial Educators Council (NFEC), 52% of 15-18-year-olds have yet to pass their National Financial Literacy Test, while those aged 10-14 achieved an average score of only 56%. These statistics underscore the crucial need for financial literacy education among our youth. The "Financial Literacy Skills for Life and Career Success" session aims to provide educators, public school counselors, and administrators with valuable tips, workshop and training strategies, a Financial Literacy Curriculum overview, e well as useful educational resources utilized by the Workforce Solutions Outreach Team. These resources educate youth about key financial concepts, such as budgeting, saving, investing, debt management, and responsible spending.
